- Abstract
The author describes the different types of relationships formed between mental health nurses and their clients. In detached relationship, the nurse is responsible for determining goals, devising treatments and planning care. Nurse-patient partnership is characterized by the collaboration between nurses and clients. The importance of real nurse-patient relationship to client recovery is also discussed.
