- Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to present a general review and commentary on the existence of gender bias in the workforce that existed and, in some countries, still exists with regards to the treatment of women due to pregnancy. Design/methodology/approach: The paper employs a form of commentary juxtaposed to the legal arguments against the gender bias. Results / findings: The paper presents the historical issues pertaining to the work of Ruth Bader Ginsburg in regards to one aspect concerning the treatment of women in the workforce. Originality: Whilst gender bias has seemingly been reduced the continued existence raises concerns for future research and legal directions.
