- Abstract
The article presents a research that examines the first R-selective enzyme hydroxynitrile lyase (HNL) containing an ɑ/β-hydrolase fold from the noncyanogenic plant Arabidopsis thaliana (mouse-ear cress). It discusses methodologies and materials used in the research including genetic engineering, enzyme catalysis, cyanohydrins and biocatalytic processes. It concludes that the structure the R-specific HNL offers details concerning enzyme mechanism of the hydrolase fold based HNLs.
