Homicide Prosecutions and Progress Toward Workplace Safety.
- Authors
Edgar, Harold
- Abstract
The article discusses work place fatalities and progress toward workplace safety. There are many cases of workplace homicides in the early times. Many workers were convicted of manslaughter after they improperly used a machinery which led to the death of their coworkers. During the early times, charges were for manslaughter but now charges are for murder. Included in such cases are the corporations or the employers of the defendants. The law in the U.S. recognized some unintentional killings are murder. The author is wondering whether the U.S. Department of Labor enforces regulations on workplace safety. He said that prosecutions of workplace homicides do not ensure workplace safety.
