- Abstract
Podoconiosis, also known as mossy foot, is a non-communicable disease found in the tropics caused by environmental, genetic, and economic factors. The Mossy Foot Treatment and Prevention Association (MFTPA) in Ethiopia provides treatment and prevention for podoconiosis through clinics and community agents. The organization is funded by the Mossy Foot Project and aims to expand its services with the support of the Ethiopian Ministry of Health. The MFTPA's care is evaluated using the Innovative Care for Chronic Conditions (ICCC) framework, which emphasizes community involvement and positive policy environments. The text also discusses the education and treatment for podoconiosis, highlighting the importance of footwear and hygiene practices. Additionally, the report by Gail Davey and Emily Burridge explores the impact of climate change on Indigenous communities in Canada, emphasizing their unique vulnerabilities and the need to incorporate Indigenous knowledge in adaptation and mitigation strategies.
