- Title
Propoxyphene withdrawal not a crisis, pharmacists say.
- Authors
Traynor, Kate
- Abstract
The article reports that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has urged health care providers to help patients who have been using propoxyphene to find alternatives to the pain medication that has been banned. Propoxyphene-containing products were withdrawn from the U.S. market in November 2010 after new clinical data showed that the drug was cardiotoxic in healthy people. Some pharmacists say that the loss of propoxyphene will not be a cause of concern for practitioners.
