- Abstract
The article discusses the idea of research synthesis in the areas of information economics (IE) and human information processing with a focus on the lens model method. Six criteria for assessing accounting models are representativeness and predictive validity, completeness, parsimony, logical basis, originality or novelty, and consistency. Differences between the lens and IE models include: IE stresses outcomes as payoff functions and is used in theory development; and lens emphasizes stochastic relationships and is used in behavioral explanations. An integrated model of decision, information, environmental variables, information utilization, and outcomes is discussed, as well as a human information processing model.
