- Abstract
Porous architectural coatings possess adsorption properties due to their porous nature, thereby imparting antiviral activity to the coatings. Consequently, the antiviral activity of porous coatings may be influenced by various factors during antiviral testing. Porous architectural coatings were prepared using porous diatomite, and the antiviral activity of the coatings was tested using bacteriophage MS2 and φA039 as non-enveloped virus models. The study investigated the effects of virus stock solution types, virus suspension droplet volume, and concentration of the droplet-added virus suspension on the antiviral test results. The results show that the stock solution with the same organic composition as the diluent should be selected as far as possible in the test. The volume of virus suspension droplets added to the coating surface should be determined based on the size of the sample. The optimal concentration of virus suspension was 1x107 PFU/mL. This paper analyzes and puts forward the best conditions and problems needing attention in the antiviral test of porous architectural coating and provides reference for the antiviral testing and standard development of porous coatings.
