- Authors
Plasqui, Guy; Westerterp, Klaas R.
- Abstract
The article deals with a study which focused on the ability of different accelerometers to evaluate daily physical activity (PA) as compared with the doubly labeled water (DLW) technique, which is considered the gold standard for measuring energy expenditure under free-living conditions. The Activity-related energy expenditure and the PA level (PAL) is highlighted. The study found that accelerometry can provide information about the total amount, the frequency, the intensity, and the duration of PA in daily life.
