- Abstract
The article presents a study which examined the relationship between adiponectin receptor 1 gene (ADIPOR1) variation and insulin sensitivity. In the study, five hundred seventy-seven unrelated African-American students 10 to 19 years of age were randomly selected from a larger cohort of 1118 African-American students enrolled in an NIH-funded school-based study. The study hypothesized that adiposity may influence this relationship, given previous findings in this and other cohorts.
