- Abstract
The article discusses a new surgical option for treating obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM) called transapical beating heart septal myectomy (TA-BSM). The authors present the results of a study on 120 patients with subaortic left ventricular outflow obstruction (LVOT) who underwent TA-BSM. The procedure, which is performed without cardiopulmonary bypass and with real-time echocardiographic guidance, achieved optimal success rates with minimal morbidity and mortality. The authors suggest that TA-BSM may be a less invasive and effective alternative to traditional septal myectomy, and it may have wider applications in other patient populations.
