- Abstract
The article focuses on the reclamation and status of soil damaged by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami in Nagappattinam District in Tamil Nadu, India. Based on the soil analysis conducted by the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, the tsunami led to the deposition of grewish brown clay, sandy soils and sea water intrusion. It notes that the clay deposition has affected the water sources. Some of the reclamation strategies used in the area were deep ploughing and spreading of sand.
