- Abstract
This article presents an overview and the current status of the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS) project, a synchrotron accelerator facility currently under construction in Hsinchu, Taiwan. TPS has entered the third year of construction since its groundbreaking on February 7, 2010. The TPS accelerator system consists of a 150 MeV linear accelerator, a 3 GeV booster synchrotron and a 3 GeV storage ring. The storage ring is 518.4 m in circumference, and a booster injector of 496.8 m is installed inside the same tunnel. The construction works of accelerator sub-systems, civil and utilities engineering as well as photon beamlines of Phase-I are under way. It is anticipated that the project will be completed and users' experiments will start by the end of 2014.
