- Abstract
The article reports that the U.S. National Science Foundation has awarded a five-year, $3.6 million NEES Grand Challenge grant to the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER). The goal is to investigate the collapse potential of older, nonductile concrete buildings during an earthquake. PEER will be developing procedures to determine the truly dangerous buildings.
