- Abstract
This article presents information related to sudden cardiac deaths such as Brugada Syndrome, acute myocardial ischemia etc. Sudden cardiac death in individuals without structural heart disease has heen reported in the medical literature for decades. The arrhythmogenic electrocardiography marker of the Brugada syndrome is ST segment elevation limited to the right precordial leads but occasionally to inferior leads, which can be influenced by heart rate, autonomic tone and sodium channel blockers. Recent progresses in basic and clinical research of this malignant syndrome have provided exciting insights into issues related not only to the Brugada syndrome itself, but also to other arrhythmogenic conditions associated with ST segment elevation.
