- Abstract
Dear Editor, The only studies concerning dermoscopy of eyelid margin tumours are case reports.[1] We evaluated the clinical and dermoscopic features of 165 eyelid margin tumours of 145 consecutive patients (77 women, 68 men; mean age 64-3 ± 17-9 years) recruited at the dermatology department, University Hospital of Saint-Etienne, France, between 1 September 2013 and 30 January 2017, to exclude malignant tumours. Clinically, one of the most complex differential diagnoses for eyelid margin tumour is between BCC and dermal naevus, because they often appear as papulonodular amelanotic lesions. Arborizing vessels, a main diagnostic criterion for the identification of cutaneous BCCs,[4] were more prevalent in BCCs (44%) than in naevi (6%) but were not specific for BCC.
