- Abstract
The article offers information on lipopolysaccharide (LPS) extraction from outer membrane of gram negative bacteria. As reported, LPS is the first structure on these organisms to be encountered by the host's immune system. It is one of the most powerful bacterial component which produces an immune response in higher vertebrates. Extracts of this molecule are used to study host-pathogen interactions. LPS can be easily extracted from Vibrio anguillarum with the help of butan-1-ol.
