- Abstract
The generation of more than 40 rotational stimulated Raman emission lines in hydrogen gas by use of a picosecond and femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser is reported. The spectral range of the emission lines extends from the near-infrared to the far-ultraviolet region. The resulting broad bandwidth allows the generation of a 0.6-fs pulse by coherent superposition, i.e., Fourier synthesis, of the emission lines.
