- Abstract
An essay is presented on the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Chicago, Illinois. It examines the location history and membership trends of some of the oldest Lutheran Church Missouri Synod churches and congregations in Chicago of which the first church was founded in 1847. It discusses the factors that contribute to the decline in membership in LCMS congregations in the city and the decrease in the number of Lutheran schools attributed to population change.
