- Abstract
We calculated the sensitivity, specificity, and negative predictive value of haptoglobin, LDH, total bilirubin, and combinations for the clinical diagnosis of haemolysis. In cases where both haptoglobin and LDH were assessed before the BF order ( I n i = 497), 407 (81.9%) had both normal haptoglobin and LDH. BF did not raise the possibility of haemolysis in 77.3% of patients with clinical haemolysis or 72.9% of those with clinical haemolysis and abnormal laboratory indices.
