Handloom council study EU market to boost exports.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the plan of the Handloom Exports Promotion Council (HEPC) in India to conduct an extensive study on the European Union market with the help of an outside agency. With a view to improving exports of handloom products to EU countries, the study forms part of the comprehensive market promotion project, taken up by HEPC in association with the office of development commissioner, ministry of textiles, government of India. The EU imports about $20 billion worth of textiles and floor covering, while only about 6 percent of its total imports is constituted by Indian exports.
