- Abstract
This article discusses a case of congenital human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection in a 31-year-old Chinese woman during her third pregnancy. Despite the presence of maternal and intrauterine IgG, severe congenital infection occurred in the fetus. The article describes the patient's medical history, prenatal testing, and the observed abnormalities in the placenta and fetal lungs. The study also analyzes the presence of HCMV in various fetal tissues and discusses the implications of the findings. The article highlights the limitations of maternal immunity in protecting against cHCMV outcomes in early pregnancy.
