- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigates the ecological shifts on marine protected areas (MPA) in Australia. The study analyzed the MPAs near fished reference sites for 16 years, assessed continental patterns and conducted underwater visual surveys on sea animals. It shows that ecological changes continue to arise over at least 20 years or much in the subtropical MPAs. It reveals that sociopolitical pressure and planning process caused low MPA resources compared to fishing site.
