- Abstract
The article discusses how medical students and their teachers took an active role in alleviating the suffering caused by the 1991 to 1995 war in Croatia. The author states that Croatia had no army, military health care system and guidelines on how to practice disaster medicine. Clinical and preclinical teachers teamed up with medical students to work on various aspects of providing medical care to different risk groups. Students are educated to alleviate human suffering and improve health of an individual and population.
