- Abstract
This article focuses on the persistence of Septoria apiicola on diseased celery debris in soil. Viable Septoria spores were recovered from surface rubble over the whole period and were of high germination. The disease failed to appear in a crop grown on land which had received infected debris twenty-one months previously. The disappearance of the fungus from the soil is possibly related to the rate of decay of debris. There is a need for a more efficient spray treatment to control disease spread.
