- Abstract
The article presents images of thrombus formation on the delivery sheath in a 50-year-old female patient during transcatheter atrial septal defect closure. Results of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) showed a 26-millimeter secundum atrial septal defect with rims that should undergo percutaneous transcatheter closure. Thromboembolic events were not reported after the procedure. The authors note that the monitoring of activated clotting time during transcatheter closure procedures could help in preventing coagulation and thromboembolic events.
