- Abstract
The article presents a preface to the March 1, 2001 issue of the journal "Sociological Forum." The article informs that with this issue, a new feature named Anniversary Reviews is being introduced to the book review section. In this issue, author Robert Zussman speculates on several characteristics necessary for a sociology book to become a bestseller, but points out that none is sufficient. Author Randall Collins has joined Erving Goffman to Thomas Kuhn, insisting on the importance of face-to-face networks and interactions to intellectual production and paradigms in philosophy. Collins has used the essence of sociology to understand intellectual history, an area where sociology has not only been neglected but often mocked. A brief introduction of themes of sociological articles published in this of the journal is given.
