- Abstract
Non-compaction cardiomyopathy is a primary cardiomyopathy with genetic transmission, affecting the left ventricle or both ventricles. Clinical manifestations vary in severity and include heart failure, arrhythmias, embolic events and sudden death. We present the case of 45 year old patient who presented to the emergency room for dyspnea at rest with orthopnea, leg edema and significant fatigue, symptoms that appeared the month before and aggravated gradually. ECG shows left bundle branch block with terminal phase secondary changes. Echocardiographic evaluation highlights, on the lateral and posterior wall of the left ventricle, the presence of exuberant trabeculae and intertrabecular recesses, suggestive for noncompaction cardiomyopathy.
