- Abstract
Objectives: this experimental aims to evaluate seven remineralising system containing microRepair and their prophylactic effect versus enamel lesions, caused by multibracket orthodontic therapy and early detachment of brackets. Materials and method: One hundred sixty freshly bovine teeth (incisors) were used and randomly collected into 8 groups (20 per group): group-1 was the control group (no treatment), group-2 was treated with BioRepair Kids 0-6 years (Coswell SpA), group-3 was treated with BioRepair Junior 7-14 years (Coswell SpA), group-4 was treated with BioRepair Pro White Plus (Coswell SpA), group-5 was treated with BioRepair Trattamento d'Urto Desensibilizzante Ripara Smalto (Coswell SpA), group-6 was treated whit BioRepair Plus ParodontGel (Coswell SpA), group-7 was treated with BioRepair Plus Denti Sensibili (Coswell SpA), group-8 was treated with BioRepair Pro Azione Anticarie Combinata Scudo Attivo (Coswell SpA). All the brackets were bonded using the same technique with transbond XT (3M Unitek, Monrovia, CA). All the bonded incisors were stored in 0,1% thymol solution until the start of treatment. Instron Universal testing machine was used to measure the SBS. In order to evaluate the amount of the adhesive remnant index (ARI), a stereomicrospoce at 10x magnification was used to examine the surface of each tooth. To compare SBS values among tooth groups (p < 0,05), were used a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's post-hoc test. The Chi-square test was used to rate ARI scores. Results: The Turkey test showed significant statistical differences among the seven investigated groups (p < 0,05). BioRepair Kids 0-6 years (214,93 ± 5,68 MPa), BioRepair Junior 7-14 years (9,95 ± 4,34 MPa), BioRepair Pro White Plus (9,55 ± 4,02 MPa), BioRepair Plus Denti Sensibili (9,24 ± 4,71 MPa) groups had the higher SBS while BioRepair Trattamento d'Urto Desensibilizzante Ripara Smalto (6,75 ± 2,79), BioRepair Pro Azione Anticarie Combinata Scudo Attivo (4,41 ± 3,52 MPa), BioRepair Plus ParodontGel (4,36 ± 4,48 MPa) groups had the lower SBS. BioRepair Kids 0-6 years, BioRepair Junior 7-14 years, Biorepair Pro White Plus, BioRepair Trattamento d'Urto Desensibilizzante Ripara Smalto, BioRepair Plus ParodontGel groups showed to have most frequently an ARI score = 0, otherwise BioRepair Plus Denti Sensibili and BioRepair Pro Azione Anticarie Combinata had more often an ARI score = 1 (p < 0,05). Conclusion: All the treatments tested did not compromise the SBS values; BioRepair Kids 0-6 years, BioRepair Junior 7-14 years, Biorepair Pro White Plus, and Biorepair Plus Denti Sensibili showed a higher SBS score compared with other toothpastes.
