- Title
The Psychologist Prescribing Bill Is Dead--Long Live Science in the Public Interest!
- Authors
Pies, Ronald
- Abstract
The article focuses on support for the veto of the bill allowing U.S. psychologists to practice clinical medicine without adequate training. Known by the euphemism of prescribing, the profession of prescribing psychologists has not given any scientific or credible proof that their practice has been safe and effective. The author also adds that to his knowledge, there has never been any systematic monitoring or objective analysis of the practice patterns of these psychologists. He believes there is a need for better training and education of doctors.
