- Abstract
The article presents a case study of using the molecular adsorbent recirculating system (MARS) in the treatment of patients with acute liver failure and in cirrhotic patients with acute decompensation. The MARS is intended to eliminate albumin-bound molecules such as bilirubin in the liver. It uses an albumin-containing dialysate which decreases thyroid hormones. It was found that the system is beneficial to the treatment of both patients.
