- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the South African abalone or Haliotis midae. Haliotis midae is the only commercial abalone species in South Africa and is threatened by overexploitation. Four microsatellite markers were selected based on flanking region size and low null allele frequency. Allele frequencies and heterozygosities were calculated and tests for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium were performed.
