- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 19-year-old male patient who failed in his suicide attempt via strangulation. Particular focus is given to suicide as a public health problem in the U.S., as well as autoerotic asphyxiation (AEA). Topics discussed are the patient's substance abuse problem, relationship woes with his ex-girlfriend, and admission into an inpatient psychiatric unit. Tables on factors relating to suicidal attempt and AEE are also included.
