- Abstract
Objective: Evaluate community action in an urban agriculture intervention project in the Campestre-Virreyes neighborhood. Methodology: A qualitative evaluation is proposed through participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Intelligence is evaluated that allows us to see the potential, learning capacity and motivations of the participants. Results: There is relevant information about the learning capabilities of the neighbors, which has been weighted based on sociodemographic data, previous knowledge and experience about urban agriculture, the motivations that accompany them and the expectations about urban agriculture in their neighborhood. Limitations: The article does not necessarily reflect a trend on community action in the neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city nor can the training process of the participants be concluded; it is only a cut in time. Conclusions, although a specific community action has been identified, which is the product of a good intervention by non-governmental actors, the participants have barely been able to develop specific capacities on urban agriculture that are not sufficient to satisfy their food needs and at the same time improve its economy, although a certain level of community action is recognized.
