- Abstract
This article discusses the need for improved representation of skin of colour (SOC) in medical education, particularly in dermatology curricula. The lack of diverse skin tones in educational materials has been shown to negatively impact patient satisfaction and dermatological health outcomes for SOC populations. The study aims to objectively assess the distribution of skin tones depicted in a first-year medical student course using quantitative digital image analysis. The results show that there is a need for greater inclusivity and diversity in medical education regarding SOC.
