- Abstract
The article discusses efforts of professor Michael Varenberg and his colleagues in modifying a cast iron block through a technique known as shot peening for producing a new surface that generated a significantly lower coefficient of friction. It mentions discharging particles of alumina (aluminum oxide), cuprous sulfide for shot peening the cast iron block. It states X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showing high concentration of sulfur.
