- Title
The State of Bioinformatics Kits.
- Authors
OSBORNE, BRIAN
- Abstract
The author comments on the current state of bioinformatics kits. These kits are collections of software shortcuts that run a biological idea through the processor. Popular bioinformatics toolkits are BioJava, BioPerl, BioPython, and BioRuby. He argues that the corresponding languages of these toolkits know no science. A kit is what the language is not, meaning a route to an answer through code that reduces and conceals the language.
