- Abstract
This article presents information on germanium disulfide, which possesses interesting optical and electronic properties such as an irreversible shift in the optical absorption edge as a result of photo-oxidation, which occurs when thin films are exposed to air under extended illumination. Additionally, germanium disulfide is one of several materials that have attracted the attention of researchers in the area of fast ion conducting glasses for battery applications and hydrogen fuel cell membranes. Both glassy and crystalline phases are used as precursors for the production of these fast ion-conducting membranes.
