- Abstract
The article explores the earliest manuscripts of Geoffrey Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales," in an effort to determine attribution of the "Tale of Gamelyn." The author considers four manuscripts in his analysis: MS 152 at Christ Church, Oxford; MS 198 at Corpus Christi College, Oxford; the Peniarth MS 392 D, or the Hengwrt, is at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, Wales; and MS El. 26. c. 9, or the Ellesmere, is at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California.
