- Abstract
In the NCDB Patient Use File Data Dictionary [[5]] (which is the document that provides the definition of each datapoint), extent of resection is defined by the surgeon's intraoperative impression. While the patient characteristics and perioperative outcomes associated with these different approaches are almost certainly quite disparate, this distinction cannot be made using NCDB data. In this issue of I Child's Nervous System i , Lehrich and colleagues [[1]] present their findings following analysis of the US National Cancer Database (NCDB) regarding patients who were diagnosed with craniopharyngioma during childhood or adulthood.
