- Abstract
This article brings a critical reflection of the memories and temporalities of the experiences Brazilian black women who appear in the work Diário de Bitita, posthumous publication in 1986 by the writer Carolina Maria de Jesus [1914-1977]. We seek to explore the contexts of subjection and resistance present in the work that make it possible to discuss, on the one hand, the temporality and ways of telling about oneself and about the world that does not end in narratives of pain and suffering and, on the other hand, the set of everyday memories that is capable of conceiving a narrative about/from Brazil. The temporal articulation of the past slavery to the experiences of oppression and social and racial inequalities staged in Diário de Bitita, elaborate a narrative that tensions hegemonic national imaginaries, among them the idea of racial democracy. Furthermore, the denunciation and social criticism that constitute the work is paved by an aesthetic and poetic style composed of ironies, memories, dreams. and wishes.
