- Abstract
No Brasil, as serpentes do gênero Bothrops são as mais comumente associadas a acidentes ofídicos e os cães uma das espécies mais comumente relatadas nesses casos, em especial os mais jovens, devido ao hábito de explorar o ambiente com o olfato e a boca. Consequentemente, o pescoço e a cabeça são os principais locais de inoculação. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo relatar um caso de acidente botrópico em um cão atendido no Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Federal de Goiás (HV-UFG). Um cão da raça Rottweiler, de 2 anos de idade, foi encaminhado a atendimento veterinário devido ao aparecimento de edema na região cervical, de forma repentina. Na anamnese, o tutor relatou que suspeitava que seu animal tivesse sido picado por uma cobra, pois no dia anterior o animal estava sem sinais de edema e por já ter visto jararacas em sua propriedade. Ao exame clínico, as únicas alterações foram taquipneia, com frequência respiratória de 88 mpm, e edema acentuado com lesão puntiforme na região cervical. Também foi possível observar ausência de formação de coágulo em amostras de sangue, uma hora após a coleta. Diante da anamnese, exame clínico e epidemiologia, o diagnóstico presuntivo foi acidente botrópico. Tendo em vista o diagnóstico presuntivo e os riscos inerentes a esse tipo de agravo, o paciente foi admitido em regime emergencial, onde foi submetido a tratamento com solução de ringer com lactato 122,1 ml/h, oxigenioterapia, dexametasona 0,5 mg/kg, analgesia com 4 mg/kg de tramadol e aplicação de soro antiofídico polivalente por via intravenosa lenta, na dose de 20 ml/animal. O paciente teve melhora clínica após o início do tratamento de suporte e aplicação do antídoto, no entanto, devido a restrições financeiras, foi retirado sem alta médica no dia seguinte à internação. Conclui-se que a associação entre sinais clínicos, epidemiologia e anamnese são essenciais para o diagnóstico do acidente botrópico e que o rápido tratamento contribui para a melhora clínica do paciente e, consequentemente, para um bom prognóstico.
