- Abstract
The purpose of this article was to present some reflections on the methodology of mathematics teaching, initial teacher training in the first Cycle of Human elementary education and on learning or not learning mathematics in the first three years of elementary school. The basis for the reflections on these themes was the training course in mathematics education carried out with teachers who work in the first three of elementary school, with the purpose of thinking about the challenges of mathematics education and learning in municipal schools in Comodoro-MT. This training course, in addition to providing reflections on the contemporary movement of mathematics education, has made it possible to look at the initial formation and practice of teaching mathematics that is being modeled in municipal schools today. Through a qualitative approach, the text also presents the result of two questions of the math test, which was designed and elaborated by the teachers participating in the course and applied to the students of the 4th year of elementary school in the same teaching network.
