- Abstract
Moringa oleifera is a plant native to northern India, which has recently been studied for its crude protein content (17-19%) and its resistance to drought, as fodder for animal feed in Mexico. This project was carried out at the technological institute of the Papaloapan basin, located on Technological Avenue number 21, ejido San Bartolo, Tuxtepec, Oaxaca; focused on the research area, in the establishment of a germplasm bank. This project was carried out with the objective of evaluating the effectiveness of three substrates in the germination of moringa seeds; said substrates were bocashi, peat moss and soil. These new substrates are expected to provide results superior to those based on land, as long as their characteristics are known. This fact, together with the scarcity or nonexistent information regarding the use of adequate substrates and low cost for the production of excellent quality seedlings of Moringa oleifera, this research work whose objective was to evaluate the effect of different substrates on the development of Moringa oleifera seedlings in their initial stages of growth and thus find a substrate that offers the best conditions for the development of seedlings.
