- Abstract
This article discusses broadcast research into media broadcasting in Canada and Latin America. The Canadian Broadcasting Commission (CBC) was created to establish Canadian radio stations and serve as a regulator. The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) was created following protests from the private sector, leading to the establishment of the first privately-owned Canadian television network, CTV. The author suggests the balancing of several languages and cultures by Canadian broadcasters serves as a model for serving Hispanic American audiences. Unique regional programming such as telenovelas were developed in Latin America. Latin American audiences have limited access to cable and satellite television.
