- Abstract
Nicotine, the main alkaloid found in tobacco plants, which is a representative agonist of acetylcholine, has some effect on the central nervous system and acetylcholine receptors. In this article, the mechanismof nicotine resistance to Alzheimer's disease was summarized and the therapeutic effect of nicotine on Alzheimer's disease was also discussed, such as regulating cholinergic, reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting Aβ production and aggregation, and neuroprotective effects. It provides a promising approach to drug screening for Alzheimer's disease.
