- Abstract
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious postoperative complication of cardiac surgery. Although it has sufficient evidence that statins can reduce the all-cause mortality, it is still uncertain the effects of perioperative statins on the acute kidney injury after coronary bypass surgery. There has not been a consensus for the medication time window and the dose of statins among the scholars who support perioperative statin use. The study summarizes the effects of perioperative statins on the acute kidney injury after coronary bypass surgery based on the analysis of the role of statins in prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease, as well as the studies about the relationship between statins' time window and the dosage and the effect of patients' kidney function after surgery.
