- Abstract
The article presents information on the Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. Charles L. Schepens, a Belgian-born ophthalmologist, founded the Institute in 1950. It was earlier known as the Eye Research Institute of Retina Foundation. The Institute was affiliated with the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts, in 1991. Research in the institute expanded from retinal diseases to research of all parts of the eyes and on causes of blindness.
