- Abstract
This article discusses a case of a 23-year-old female with alopecia totalis and lichen planus hypertrophicus who responded well to treatment with oral tofacitinib, a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. The patient had a history of itchy warty lesions on her legs and hair loss on her scalp. After unsuccessful treatment with cyclosporine, tofacitinib was initiated and resulted in significant improvement in both conditions. Tofacitinib is emerging as a promising therapy for severe cases of alopecia areata and has shown efficacy in lichen planus as well. The article highlights the potential of tofacitinib as an effective treatment option for patients with severe or treatment-resistant disease.
