- Abstract
The article focuses on the transmission of tuberculosis (TB) associated with organ transplantation. Particular attention is paid to a case reported by the Oklahoma Sate Department of Health, which found that TB was disseminated to 2 of 3 organ recipients by a single donor diagnosed with the disease. TB genotypes were identical between donor and recipients. The author stresses the need to identify possible TB symptoms in all potential organ donors and suggests ways clinicians can recognize the symptoms of TB that are specific to organ donor recipients.
